Team Values Charter

A team values charter is a persuasive tool to support a team to work together toward a common purpose. It’s not a time-consuming exercise. But nonetheless, it can be very insightful. It’s best done face-to-face with all team members present, but can work remotely, if necessary.

Here’s how it works.

At the beginning of a meeting the leader asks each person in the team to respond in writing to five questions. It’s important that team members write down their responses to each question . It’s also imperative that the team leader participates too. The leader wants their team members to have thought clearly and deeply about these questions; writing responses helps in this regard. This isn’t an exercise that should be done off-the-cuff.
